Nickel 200 is a commercially pure (99.6%)nickel. It is a solid solution strengthened wrought material with excellent mechanicalproperties and resistance to corrosion. It also has exceptional resistance tocaustic alkalis at different concentrations and temperatures, however, thecorrosion resistance is better in de-aerated acid. The alloy has low gascontent and vapor pressure, and high thermal and electricalconductivities.

Other useful features of Nickel 200are its magnetic and magnetostrictive properties, low gas content, and lowvapor pressure. The chemical composition is shown below. The corrosionresistance of Nickel 200 makes it particularly useful for maintaining productpurity in the handling of foods, synthetic fibers, and caustic alkalies, butalso in structural applications where resistance to corrosion is of primaryconsideration.
